The latest market research report on packaging by Bharat Book
Bureau titled “High
Visibility Packaging forecasts to 2010 & 2015”
provides information on the packaging and containers
industry. It has been estimated that the demand for high
visibility packaging will rise at the rate of 5.1% per annum
to an estimated $8.5 billion till the year 2010.
The report mentions that the best opportunities are
anticipated for carded blister packs and clamshells, which
together accounted for 58 per cent of the high visibility
packaging in 2005. Clamshells will benefit due to their
appearance, which is thick, rigid and is suitable to the
larger and heavier items, and have an ability to deter
tampering and theft.
Blister pack demand is anticipated to increase in the coming
years to $2.5 billion in 2010, with an annual growth rate of
6.8 per cent. Blisters are easier to use as they utilize
less plastic than clamshells, and also the demand for
blister packs in consumer goods will increase from the
growing interest in sustainable packaging, i.e., packaging
that utilizes renewable, biodegradable or recycled
materials.
It is also mentioned that food will account for about half
of the high visibility packaging in markets such as baked
goods, fresh produce etc. Growth will be increased by the
rising consumer interest in ready to use home meal
replacements, which are common and increasingly available in
supermarkets, which use clamshells and other high visibility
containers.
The
products covered include clamshell packaging, windowed
packaging, pharmaceutical and medical packaging, skin
packaging, carded blister packs etc.
