India, July 27 - Bharat Book Bureau has added "Indiastat
e-Year Book 2006" ( http://www.bharatbook.com/detail.asp?id=20139

In
response to the macroeconomic crisis of the late 1980s, a comprehensive
programme of liberalisation, privatisation, and globalisation was initiated in
India in July 1991. This was aimed at rapid and substantial economic growth
preparing India for integration with the global economy. The programme of
economic reforms encompassed wide-ranging reform measures touching almost every
aspect of the Indian economy.
The
economy of India has more than doubled in real terms since reforms that began in
1991. The foreign exchange reserves have reached a level of over US$ 143 billion
in December, 2005.
A
Goldman Sachs report ('Dreaming with BRICs: The Path to 2050') states that among
Brazil, Russia, India and China, India will grow the fastest over the next 30 to
50 years by leveraging its demographic advantages and through continued
development. The World Bank upgraded India's status from a moderately indebted
country to a less indebted country in 1999.
These
phenomenal developments in the economy have been tracked and presented in the
Indiastat e-Year Book 2006. The Year Book traces the journey of economic reforms
through statistical data at the national level for the post reform period and
reveals what India has accomplished so far.
