In the modern warfare, the missile has become the most important component of the defense mechanism of every country. A self propelled navigated weapon system, as opposed to an unguided munition which is cited to as just a rocket. In today’s date, having a strong missile defense line has become very important for every country. This is not only a weapon for protecting the country, but also used for sending out a message to the enemy nation about their military strength. As a tense phase prevails in the world on various issues, this line of weaponry has become the most powerful arsenal of a state.

Missiles can fly several miles from their launching points and hit a pin point target. They may be targeted in a number of ways. The most common technique is to use some form of radiation, such as infrared, lasers or radio waves, to guide the missile onto its target. There are different categories of missiles. Air-to-air, Air-to-surface, Anti-ballistic, Anti-satellite, Anti-ship, Anti-submarine, Anti-tank guided, Cruise, Ballistic, Tactical and short-range missiles are some of them. They can be carried or fitted to a ship, submarine or a missile launcher vehicle. Whether guided by a targeting system or guidance system or both, it requires a flight system. The flight system utilizes the information from the targeting or guidance system to maneuver the missile in flight, permitting it to counter inaccuracies in them or to follow a moving object. There are two main systems which helps in the missle’s flight path , vectored thrust and aerodynamic maneuvering. These weapons are powered by an engine, generally a type of rocket or jet engine, usually  having one or more explosive warhead, although other weapon types may also be used. The warhead or warheads of a missile provide its primary destructive power. Warheads are most commonly of the high explosive kind, habitually employing shaped charges to exploit the precision of a guided weapon to annihilate hardened targets. Other types comprise of sub-munitions,incendiaries, nuclear weapons, chemical, biological or radiological weapons or kinetic energy penetrators. The defense sector worldwide is working continuously on production of new missile technology in order to improve and strengthen their armed services. Tomahawk, Agni, Barack, Jericho are some of the renowned and most lethal missiles in the military system of the world. In the worldwide defense industry, these batteries have got a huge demand. New designs and technology are being continuously evolved to make these weaponry more powerful, precise and deadly.

According to a market analysis report, The US has witnessed budget cuts in the recent past and is likely to continue to do so in the future. In spite of this, North America is likely to account for the largest share of the total global expenditure on missiles and missile defense systems with 39% in the forecast period. Asia and Europe are also expected to account for a significant proportion of the total global missiles and missile defense mechanism market during the forecast period, with percentages of 33% and 16% respectively. This will be mostly determined by the efforts of nations such as India, China and Russia to modernize their armed forces. The Middle East, Latin America and Africa account for 9%, 2% and 1% of global missile and missile defense systems disbursement correspondingly.
