About Lithium-ion Batteries
Lithium-ion batteries, also known as Li-ion batteries, are rechargeable batteries used for powering tablets. Almost all tablets run on Li-ion batteries. Li-ion batteries generate power when ions move from a negatively charged anode to a positively charged cathode. The movement of ions from the anode to the cathode releases energy. On the other hand, during charging, electricity from the adapter forces the ions to return to the anode. Once the adapter is removed, this cycle starts all over again. With time, charge hold capacity of Li-ion batteries deteriorate because of lack of movement of ions trapped in anode. The various advantages of Li-ion batteries such as their compact size, light weight, more power, and high capacity have led to their increased demand from tablet users.
