Westmoreland Coal Company (WCC) is a coal and energy company in the US. The company is involved in the mining, production and marketing of coal. WCC owns 12 coal mines in the US and Canada. The company owns a char production facility and 50% interest in an activated carbon power plant. It also owns and operates Roanoke Valley power plants (ROVA), consisting of two coal-fired power generating units in North Carolina. The company also owns 93.8% equity interest in WMLP, which operates five mining complexes in Ohio and one in Wyoming. The company's properties include Savage, Jewett, Absaloka, Beulah, Colstrip and Buckingham mine. The company sells more than 50 million tons of coal. The company owns proven and probable coal reserves of 1,222 million tons. The company has coal mines in Montana, Texas, North Dakota, and Ohio in the US, and it has operating mines in Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada. WCC is headquartered at Colorado Springs, Colorado, the US.
